How to Set Up Your PayPal API Credentials

To connect PayPal with your store, you’ll need your PayPal Business API credentials. Here's how to get them in just a few steps:

🔐 Step 1: Create a PayPal Business Account

API credentials are only available for Business accounts.
If you don’t have one yet:

đŸ§‘â€đŸ’» Step 2: Access the PayPal Developer Portal

⚙ Step 3: Create an App to Generate Your API Credentials

Once logged in:

  1. Go to the Dashboard

  2. In the left menu, click My Apps & Credentials

  3. Choose the environment:

    • Sandbox for testing

    • Live for production use

  4. Click Create App under the desired section

  5. Name your app and assign it to a sandbox account if needed

  6. Click Create App to confirm

🔑 Step 4: Get Your API Credentials

After creating the app, you’ll be redirected to its details page.
Here, you’ll find:

  • Client ID – a unique identifier for your app

  • Client Secret – a secure key used for authentication

⚠ Both are required to use PayPal’s APIs securely.

🛒 Step 5: Add Your Credentials to Storely

  • Enter your Client ID and Client Secret into the Payment Settings of your Storely dashboard

  • Make sure to store them securely, preferably using environment variables, to prevent unauthorized access

I used to be on Shopify for 2 years, but the monthly fees kept adding up. With this platform, I cut my costs in half and still have a fast, professional site. For my customers, nothing changed — but for me, it’s a big win.
